Coronavirus Grant funding and how do you get it?

Grant funding for SME businesses

In response to the coronavirus outbreak, grant funding is now available for small businesses and businesses in the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors.

In summary the measures are as follows, both of which are being administered at local authority level:

The Small Business Grant Fund (SBGF)
  • Businesses with a property eligible for Small Business Rates Relief (SBRR) or Rural Rates Relief (RRR) on 11 March 2020 will receive £10,000 per eligible property.
  • Businesses will receive one grant per eligible property and cannot receive both the SBGF and RHLGF for the same property.
The Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant Fund (RHLGF)
  • £10,000 for retail, hospitality and leisure businesses with a property with a rateable value up to and including £15,000.
  • £25,000 for retail, hospitality and leisure businesses with a property with a rateable value between £15,000 and £51,000.
  • Charities meeting the above criteria but whose rates bill for 11 March 2020 had been reduced to £nil by a local discretionary award should still be considered to be eligible for the RHLGF.
  • Businesses will receive one grant per eligible property and cannot receive both the SBGF and RHLGF for the same property.
