Tri, Tri and Tri Again
Anne Whatley, Business Development Manager for Godalming based accountants and business advisers Roffe Swayne, completed her first triathlon at Dorney Lake, Eton on Saturday 14th May raising over £1,000 for Disability Challengers.
Having started running 4 years ago in order to lose weight and improve her fitness, Anne has been looking for new challenges ever since. In January 2011 she signed up for her first triathlon, with the aim of raising money for Disability Challengers, a charity based in Guildford and Farnham who provide a place for disabled children and young people to play, make friends and have fun. Roffe Swayne is a member of the Challengers Champions Business Club and enjoy raising money for the charity whenever the opportunity arises.
Training for the event was hard work and to maximise the results she gained from her training sessions Anne took on the skills of personal trainer Chris Willett. “Without Chris’s help I would have struggled to stay so focussed. He gave me a real structure to my training and pushed me to do things that I would never have dreamed possible a few years ago – including getting up at 6am every day to go to the gym!”
“I knew the event itself would be hard work, but I wasn’t expecting the windy conditions, which really added to the difficulty particularly on the swim and the cycle. There were times when I wondered whether I would be able to finish but I’m so pleased that I did, and really excited to be able to raise money for such a deserving charity”.
