Challengers Cup raises cash for charity
The Challengers Cup 5-a-side football tournament, sponsored by Roffe Swayne and Penningtons Solicitors LLP, took place at the Surrey Sports Park on 22nd September. 16 teams entered the event, all from local organisations, with all entrance fees going directly to Disability Challengers – over £1,500 has been raised so far.
The team from Surrey Sports Park were the winners of the tournament after beating some stiff competition. Mark Leigh, partner at Roffe Swayne, commented “the tournament was a huge success and was enjoyed by players and spectators alike. It was wonderful to be able to raise money for such a deserving local charity whilst having so much fun – our thanks go to the teams and the referees for their involvement.”
Mady Hatton, corporate funding manager, from Disability Challengers said, ‘Everyone at Disability Challengers is thrilled to have received this support from Roffe Swayne and Penningtons, through the football tournament. Their donation will help support our after-school clubs in Guildford and Farnham. These schemes are so important, as they enable local disabled children to enjoy a fantastic afternoon of play and meet other children - whilst also giving parents a break from caring, to catch-up on everyday tasks or spend time with other siblings. The tournament was a brilliant way to raise money and a thoroughly enjoyable evening, we were so pleased to have been a part of it.’
